Instructions for Placing Baby in Saddle
- Lay the Jolly Jumper Saddle out flat with the buckles on the underside of the fabric. Fasten the Jolly Jumper to the crossbar by attaching the clips at the top of the blue and white webbing.
- Place baby down onto the saddle so that the wing-flaps center on baby’s navel.
- Bring the lower length up through the legs onto the child’s tummy/chest area.
- Pull the wing-flap from the right-hand side over onto the tummy/chest area.
- Pull the wing-flap from the left-hand side over onto the right-hand one and attach with the Velcro. Make sure the waistband is pulled tight so that when you pick baby up, he/she will expand into the saddle, causing the elastic to grip the baby’s back, thus giving it the necessary support.
- Fold the middle seat flap down over the top of the fastened wing-flaps. Make sure the waistband is tight to provide the support needed to hold the baby upright and to keep the baby’s back straight.
- Connect the two halves of the buckle. The child should be snuggly fitting into the saddle.
Instructions for Fastening the Saddle to the Spring
- Make sure that you have connected the 2 halves of the safety buckle on the waistband.
- Lift baby by the spreader bar and attach to the spring, which is already hanging from the Door Clamp, Ceiling Hook, or Port-a-Stand.
- Adjust the height of the Jolly Jumper so that the child’s toes just touch the floor. Use the chain links to adjust the height.
Instructions for Using the Door Clamp
Another way to suspend your Jolly Jumper is to hang it from the casement of your door with the sturdy Door Clamp enclosed with your Jumper.
- The Door Clamp easily attaches to any sturdy door frame having a maximum width of 13 cm with a minimum 12 mm door molding.
- The clamp can also be overlocked onto a sturdy tree branch or rotary clothesline, thus giving the Jumper further portability.
Port-a-Stand Assembly Instructions
Adult assembly is required. Please read all of the following instructions thoroughly and identify all parts for proper assembly. Keep instructions for future reference.
Assembly Steps
- Place Cross bar resting plate onto Cross bar A with hook. Groove on bottom of plate should align with the bar underneath.
- Place Cross bar B perpendicular onto the top side of the Cross bar resting plate. Then screw on Top knob firmly to hold pieces in place.
- All legs attach by screwing the threaded ends together.
- Attach four Mid legs to crossbar frame.
- Attach four Base legs to Mid legs.
- The stand is now correctly assembled and ready for the Jolly Jumper to be attached.
Safety Guidelines
- Never leave baby unsupervised.
- Never use near steps or stairs.
- Use only with Jolly Jumper.
- Always use on flat surfaces or ground.
- Do not move unit while baby is in jumper.
- Do not use on elevated surfaces.
Important Safety Instructions
- Before baby’s weight is in the Jolly Jumper, make sure all swivel snaps are secure and completely closed on rings.
- You cannot teach baby to bounce.
- Using the chain adjustment, raise or lower baby in the bouncer to a point where its toes just touch the floor.
- Baby will soon discover that the least kick will set them in a gentle up-and-down motion.
- If baby is leaning forward onto the straps, it means baby’s center of gravity is too high and this can be adjusted by lowering the crotch with the adjustable buckle on the front.
- Initially, baby may tend to look down at the floor. To get baby to look forward, you can hold baby’s hands at chest height or place a balloon against baby’s chest and have them squeeze it, thus causing baby to look up.
- Remember, baby is safe in the Jolly Jumper and will be enjoying greatly increased freedom of movement; however, please keep baby within your sight at all times.
Additional Information
Motor Learning
- When your baby is in the Jolly Jumper, he/she is a “free agent,” while moving around a fixed axis.
- By attaching a balloon with a piece of ribbon or string (approx 40 cm long) so that the balloon rests on the floor at baby’s feet, baby can now learn to pull the string & get the balloon (problem solving). While playing with the balloon, baby practices motor skills such as hand/eye coordination, foot/eye coordination, and tracking a moving object.
- Babies have a good sense of rhythm, and if you play bouncy music, they will soon learn to bounce in time!
When to Use the Jolly Jumper
- The Jolly Jumper can be used from approx. 3 months to walking age.
- For babies aged 3-4 months, 30-40 minutes in the Jolly Jumper twice a day is recommended.
- For babies over 4 months, up to 60 minutes. However, babies will usually decide when they have had enough.
Washing Instructions
- To easily wash the saddle of your Jolly Jumper, simply place the saddle inside a pillowcase, knot the pillowcase, and put it in your washing machine. Alternatively, hand wash. Wash whenever required.
- With ordinary care, your Jolly Jumper should last as long as you have babies to bounce.
Final Word
- The Jolly Jumper Spring and Clamp are guaranteed for 1 year and are weight-tested to 50 kg.
- WARNING – It is advisable not to place the Jolly Jumper near open stairways or over concrete floors. Your baby should not be left unattended.
